I finally pulled the trigger on the Gen 4 Starlink to see if it can officially replace my 5G home internet setup. Having used T-Mobile and Verizon 5G home internet for over six years with external antennas, I wanted to find out if Starlink’s premium price tag actually delivers a better experience.
In this video, I walk through the setup of the standard Gen 4 panel, how I mounted it to my TV antenna tower using a custom pipe adapter, and run it through a series of real-world speed tests. We look at the Starlink app vs Speedtest.net results, upload/download limits on the Residential Max plan, and do a deep dive into Waveform’s buffer bloat test to see how loaded latency compares to 5G cellular.
