I rented a Caterpillar D4 bulldozer to cut a brand-new road through the woods and clear a building site for my next big project. Between the D4 dozer and my CAT 304 mini excavator, we tackled everything from thick brush and trees to rough terrain — carving access into land that’s never seen a machine before.
This video shows the full process of road building and land clearing, using rented heavy equipment to do what most people think only big contractors can pull off. From pushing dirt and cutting grades with the dozer to cleaning up and shaping with the excavator, every pass gets us closer to turning this wild patch of woods into something usable.
