Have you ever wondered what food might taste like in your fantasy world? With the rising popularity of anime like Made in Abyss and Dungeon Meshi/Delicious in Dungeon, it's clear we're not the only ones! In this worldbuilding food video, Amaiguri and @SpaceDirt_ make food from the fantasy world, Yssaia! Join us, as we acquire world building inspiration -- and whether you're writing a fantasy novel or worldbuilding for an RPG, maybe you'll be inspired to get back to your fantasy world too!
++ HOW TO MAKE RUMATEUR DUMPLINGS FOR YOURSELF ++
INGREDIENTS
_For dough_
3 cups flour, spelt or barley
1 cup equal amounts water and cream
1 (hefty) teaspoon of salt
1 egg
_For meat_
1 pound ruminant meat (we used bison)
1.5 teaspoons salt
Half an onion, chopped
2-3 sprigs of thyme
About ¼ cup of water (enough to make the meat spreadable)
COOK
1. Mix about half of the flour with the the salt and add the egg and water cream mixture
2. Add the remaining flour slowly until the dough has a nice, soft consistency
3. Divide the dough into ping-pong ball sized balls and roll into a circle on a well floured work surface
4. Spread some of the meat on one side of the dough, making sure to stay away from the edges
5. Wet one half of the edge with water, cream, goat milk (really any liquid that you don’t mind eating) and fold together, making a half circle shape
6. Crimp the edges and shave off excess with a pastry sealer or the edge of a plate
7. Drop into high smoke point oil heated to around 375 degrees Fahrenheit
8. Fry until one side is golden brown, then flip and cook the remaining side
9. Remove from pan and place on a plate with paper towels to drain
