I recently inherited an old Swedish cittra from the late 1800s or early 1900s, no one in the family knows for sure how old it is. It's beat up, to say the least. Several deep cracks threaten the integrity of the instrument that was covered in cobweb when we found it.
I decided to record it to see what would happen when I plucked the strings that have not been changed for at least a century. When listening back to the recordings there's resonances and sounds ... that should not be there. Buzzing whispers and hidden overtones escaping from the old blackened wood.
I just love the sound. A perfect introduction for my coming album, for sure. More information about that is coming shortly.
