The NEW 60th Anniversary Francie Silkstone Barbie is finally here, and as someone whose adult doll collecting journey began by sewing for vintage Barbie dolls, I couldn't wait to add her to my collection. 💖
The Mod Era has always been my favorite period in Barbie history, so Francie holds a very special place in my heart. This doll was an instant nostalgia purchase—but did she live up to the legacy of the original vintage Francie?
In this honest review, I share my first impressions after unboxing the new Silkstone Francie and discuss where I think Mattel succeeded... and where I think they missed the mark. Unfortunately, I wasn't impressed with the overall quality. Her hair looked messy right out of the box, and her reproduction outfit didn't compare well to authentic vintage Barbie fashions.
To really see what this doll is capable of, I give her a complete makeover using three authentic vintage Barbie and Francie outfits from my personal collection. Together we'll compare the craftsmanship, fabrics, tailoring, and fit of vintage fashions versus the brand-new Silkstone release to see whether classic Mod-era clothing brings this beautiful doll to life.
