Ok, so a lot of guys have been asking me what do i use to make my guitars and bass sound good.
First of all i'll talk about VSTs.
For Rhythm Guitars:
- Kontakt + Shreddage 2 (The old Shreddage 2) + The Odin III (8 string guitar emulation) + APPEX Modern Trailer Guitar (8 String guitar great for Argent Metal and low tuned aggresive Metalcore)
For Lead Guitars or Solos:
- Kontakt + Shreddage 3 Hydra or Shreddage Jupiter (Default presets) + The Odin III (More natural sounds for lead guitars)
For Bass:
- Modo Bass (Default Preset)
For Drums:
- Lately I've been using GGD One Kit Wonder Architects because I really like how it sounds overall for old school and modern metalcore but I also use samples to layer the snare and kick.
For genres such as death metal where I need a rough sound I use Superior Drummer 3. I have different custom sets i have made myself, but you will usually see my favorite one in my videos. I could try to explain how i made it but it would be really long text and i'm not really fluent in technical english.
Now about the channel mixer and effects. (The effects chain is in order)
For Rhythm Guitars:
- TS 808 V2 + NC8085 + Poulin LeCab2 (This is an impulse loader so you will have to get your guitar impulses somewhere) + EQ (I use this chain for Shreddage 2 and Odin III guitars. For Appex I don't use any, just an EQ)
For Lead Guitars or Solos:
- Amped Stevie T (Shredeemer Preset) + EQ and effects
For Bass:
- FabFilter Saturn for compression + EQ (MONO IS IMPORTANT, if you're going to modifiy the stereo image on the master channel, you HAVE to make your bass keep it's mono freqs).
For Drums:
- Ok, i use a lot of different effects on each and every drumkit part so i can't give you exact instructions. You will have to use your ears to make it sound good depending on your taste.
