Have you ever tried high-altitude snorkelling in freezing mountain water? I met up with a friend to explore some of Scotland’s highest lochs, but things took an unexpected turn as soon as I stepped in.
After camping out at just over the 900m contour line, I was supposed to dive right into the water—instead, I hit a sudden wall of cold-water panic and hyperventilation. Cold water shock is no joke! Luckily, once I got control of my breathing, it turned into one of the most incredible, surreal underwater experiences of my life. To finish off the adventure, I hiked over two Munros to make the journey back home.
