I think it made a difference. It seems to take longer to get up to the heat but it still overheats when plugged in and gaming. The hinge has gotten a bit louder since doing this and I was pretty careful about getting everything back in the right spot so I'm honestly not sure why that would be. Either way, wow.

Maybe someone smarter than me can think of an improved thermal design for this machine. To me it seems rather slapdash and basic. I think that little tiny fan isn't moving enough air through the system and the power delivery components are making too much heat. No idea though.
