James Bruton | I MADE IT I SKATE IT - 3D Printed Carbon Fiber @jamesbruton | Uploaded 4 years ago | Updated 20 minutes ago
I decided to do some testing on Carbon Fiber reinforced 3D printing materials, and ended up making a skateboard with a very interesting structure. I'm using the Lulzbot HS1.2+ 1.2mm hardened steel toolhead so the extrusions are really fat, and the parts are really tough. The filament is MatterHackers Pro Series carbon fiber reinforced PLA.
Check out CNC kitchen for more info on how extrusion width affects toughness of the parts: youtube.com/watch?v=9YaJ0wSKKHA

Former toy designer, current YouTube maker and general robotics, electrical and mechanical engineer, I’m a fan of doing it yourself and innovation by trial and error. My channel is where I share some of my useful and not-so-useful inventions, designs and maker advice. Iron Man is my go-to cosplay, and 3D printing can solve most issues - broken bolts, missing parts, world hunger, you name it.
XRobots is the community around my content where you can get in touch, share tips and advice, and more build FAQs, schematics and designs are also available.
