The Phantom of the Opera musical celebrated it's 35th anniversary this month! This Halloween 2021 plus size sewing project is an early bustle, 1870's Victorian Ball Gown. I used Truly Victorian patterns for the bodice and skirt of this bustle dress. I took inspiration from several versions of the Phantom's Masque of the Red Death costume including the stage production, movie musical, illustrated book, and classic film. I wore my mid Victorian corset, chemise, petticoat, padded bustle and corset cover under this costume.
