As I remember it...
1982 @ the EL REY Theatre located on Wilshire BLVD in Los Angeles. The movie TRON was playing there and my folks took me to see this pioneering film. I was about 5 years old and I clearly remember seeing pictures of the film in an issue of "3,2,1 Contact". In the pictures I saw people glowing with different color lights and grids all over the place. I couldn't comprehend what it all meant but I handed the magazine over to my mother and asked her to look at it. She thought it looked pretty XD She also noticed it was a new Disney film and read the rest of the article. The film was coming out in couple of weeks. She said we'd go if I behaved in kindergarden - lol
That day came and my mother and father took me to see it. This scene always stuck with me. There was NOTHING like it i've ever seen! 20+ years would go by and i'm still amazed by the work put into this film.
On June 17, 2007, I had the opportunity to catch TRON in its 70mm glory complete with a Q&A session with some of the cast and crew members! So I brought my 20th Anniversary TRON DVD along and had the crew sign it :) This movie meant so much to me over the years I even bought the coin-op ! Well as you can see in the clip -- it pretty much needs work. I have some friends of mine who are heavenly into coin-ops and restoration. I'm looking forward to having them bring it back to 1982 - but not without a fee. Its all worth it :)
