I challenged the Stove community to create 3D game assets in just a few days, and the results were much better than I expected. In this video, I react to every entry from the first Stove 3D Modeling Contest, including hand painted props, characters, vehicles, aircraft, stylized models, and assets already being used inside game engines.
I also share a few upcoming Stove improvements inspired directly by what people created, including pen pressure support, easier texture resolution controls, workflow improvements, and future platform support. Most importantly, this contest shows what people can already create with Stove, even after very little time using it.
00:00 The First Stove 3D Modeling Contest
02:38 How the Winners Will Be Chosen
03:44 Reacting to the First Contest Entries
04:12 New Pen Pressure and Painting Improvements
05:44 Potions, Props and a Vending Machine
06:30 A Mad Max Style Vehicle Inside Cave Engine
09:01 Someone Made a Stove... Using Stove
10:48 An Incredible Model Made in About 30 Minutes
12:31 The Wasp Queen
13:49 More Characters, Props and Stylized Models
16:56 The Aircraft Entries
18:57 Final Thoughts on the Contest

Cave Engine is moving forward in 2026, and in this video I reveal the roadmap for the engine: visual scripting, Logic Bricks, shader graph, Linux Wayland support, AI enemy programming, navigation mesh and pathfinding, web export, better tutorials, more demo projects, improved asset importing, and a stronger overall user experience. Cave Engine is a lightweight 3D game engine written in C++ and scriptable in Python, focused on fast iteration, simple workflows, and indie game development.
I also talk about what is not planned for Cave, including C++, Lua, other scripting languages, and 2D support, plus future ideas like DirectX 12, Xbox export, rendering backend abstraction, replacing SDL, possibly replacing native Python with PocketPy, physics system changes, Android, iOS, Mac, Vulkan, PlayStation, Nintendo Switch, BGFX, and even 3D modeling tools inside the engine. This roadmap is not a list of promises, but a transparent look at the direction Cave Engine may take in 2026 and beyond.
