As the Energy of Time, Trunio hasn't really managed to maintain friendships over his immortal life span. He travels so often through for his work, he passes through his human friends' lives quickly multiple times.

But once he's appointed Swift as his Chosen, he is excited, to finally have a relationship with the creatures he watches birth, grow, love and die. Swift travels through time with him, and now the sad and horrid pasts of the world hurt less, now that he has a helper and friend by his side.

He's admitted his feelings to Swift before, whom told him she'd always stay in contact with him, and hang out when she can. That time is reduced once she meets Leif and the rest. Trunio is understanding and waits, having all the time in the world for them to meet up again.

But he's reminded of how fragile humans are, stumbling across Swift's body, trapped beneath the boulders that dislodged during the hurricane she whipped up to help Leif and the others she's grown to love so dearly.

Trunio knew Swift was one who'd do anything to her those she loved to safety.. but.. why couldn't she have just stayed with him?
