Cycling the world - Asia: episode 32
I leave Dubai Marina and slowly make my way out of the city, following bike lanes toward the airport before the desert takes over again. Somewhere along the way I pass the 100000 kilometre mark of this journey around the world, a quiet milestone after years on the road.
I camp on a dune just outside Dubai and wake up to the first day of Ramadan after the moon is sighted the night before. Back on the road toward Oman, I run into an unexpected traffic jam, camels crossing the road in full UAE style. A stop at a fast food place does not go as planned due to Ramadan, so I keep pushing into the desert.
The day ends among bigger dunes and rolling hills where I find shelter behind a bush to protect myself from the wind and sand. Another simple camp, another step forward in this endless ride.
