I've attempted many different wood carvings over the years but none of them have been quite as complicated as Howl's Moving Castle. In total I carved at least 181 pieces of linden wood over the course of 80 hours to bring Studio Ghibli's creation to life.
I suppose you'd call this a kind of diorama or model, though I see it more as a sculpture.

I was asked to make a sliding lid box for crochet hooks by one of my Twitch viewers and decided to use Oak with Sapele accents. The proud and rounded over elements add a little extra touch to go along with the carved Ogham runes.
This was built completely with hand tools and the sapele accent was actually added after the fact when the carved runes were slightly off centre. Just goes to show that a mistake can add an extra dimension to a project, in this case the sapele accent matches with the side dowels. The top and bottom are held in by dado (plough/housing) joints.

A very simple storage box made from pallet wood and an easy weekend project. This box will be used to store perfumes and various toiletries in a bathroom at a wedding next year. It can of course be used to help with any kind of organisation, I may make another in the future for my tools.
You often dont get particularly nice pieces of wood from a pallet. The good thing about this little box is that theres not much material, so you can pick and choose the best pieces of a pallet to make it. The box it was inspired from had love hearts as the handles, the bride and groom wanted this version to just be more suitable for any occasion.

Ive lived just outside Bury St. Edmunds in Suffolk almost my whole life and The Abbeygate is a stand out landmark in the town. I decided to do this wood carving because my home means a lot to me and theres some interesting history behind this gate.

It took around 15 hours to carve this piece and then another hour or so painting it. I used a mixture of white spirit and polyurethane to seal the wood carving and then thinned down oil paints were painted over the top. Its made from lime wood.

This twin screw vice was made with some old pieces of door frame and is a great addition to the workbench. I needed a better way to hold stock when resawing and had recently been given a tap and die set to make a wooden screw. So with the extra space on the side of my bench I made a moxon vise which holds wood very well and is perfect to use in conjunction with my frame saw. It was a rather simple build, completed entirely with hand tools.
People also typically use a twin screw vise to cut dovetails as it allows you to clamp pieces further down within the vice to give you less vibration when working on those tricky and delicate cuts.

I needed a quick and simple drill bit organiser for the shed as I was wasting a lot of time and possibly harming my bits by keeping them in a drawer. Its not a particularly clean or attractive project but it is functional and has already made my woodworking faster (which it desperately needs).
I made this with a piece of old bed frame from my friend Dan, thanks Dan! This, along with lots of my other projects, was also streamed live on Twitch.

I wanted to test myself with some more complex wood carving and so decided to carve the Suffolk (UK) Coat of Arms for my Dad (The county hes from) for Christmas. I made this carving with a relatively small set of chisels that Ive bought over the last couple of years.

The coat of arms depicts various aspects of Suffolk which is in the East of England. The sun rising over the sea represents the fact that Suffolk is the most easterly county in the UK and the two crowns refer to the town Bury St. Edmunds. The viking longboat on the top of the coat of arms signifies the Norse influence in the region. The sun on the coat of arms was also used as the badge of Suffolk during the battle of Agincourt.
