For years I’ve been hunting for the perfect smart bedside clock — something with a touchscreen, decent speakers, voice assistant, and most importantly, full Home Assistant integration. Spoiler: it doesn’t exist… at least not yet.
A Few weeks ago I saw a post about an Amazon Echo Show 5 Exploit and had to try it out!

In this video run through two options with using this new exploit.
🔴 Option One (The Red Pill )– rooting Fire OS to sideload apps like the HA Companion App (while keeping Alexa).
🔵 Option 2 (The Blue Pill )– replacing Fire OS entirely with LineageOS, turning the Echo Show into a fully-fledged Android device.
You’ll see what works, what doesn’t, and whether it’s worth risking a 2019 Echo Show for the ultimate smart clock setup - More spoilers; LineageOS is definitely worth it!
