YouTube just asked me to apply to the Partner Program on my new channel. I've been posting since April (much more seriously for the last couple months.) And I just reached my 1000th subscriber. It took less than 48 hours to be accepted and I made $3 on my first day.
YouTube restricted who can apply for monetization a few years ago (I had 2 channels lose monetization back then.) But the reality is that if you are making less than $3 a day, why bother with monetization. They won't cut a check until you reach $100 anyway.
But turning on monetization allows other forms of monetization like super chats and stickers.
And being in the Partner Program also allows you to turn off ads on your videos (as of November 2021.)
