It took 3 (or 4) games to get my first comp win in this game (back on Feb 5 2025), but after the initially impossible games, I went on an absolute tear and got all the way from bronze 3 to diamond 3 in just 4 days after unlocking competitive play. This is (currently) my one and only account (I will be making a second account to play with friends) and I basically one tricked hulk to get there. As for why I have season 0/prior playtime, it's because I wanted to try this game back when it launched, but after 2-3 hours of trying out different settings and playing with friends I couldn't get above 40-50 FPS using a NVidia 3080 graphics card so I uninstalled the game until I upgraded my PC this February.
