Today (23 November 2019) at work we successfully executed a controlled collapse of the P6 portainer crane at Burnie Port (Tasmania)
The crane has been unused for almost 10 years and to make way for future port development the crane was required to be demolished.
A controlled collapse was chosen in favor of insitu demolition and was performed by installing temporary bracing cables, making strategic cuts in the structure, and then initiating the collapse via a pull line.
The operation was successful.
