The Benson Amps 424 MKII is a faithful recreation of the now cult classic Portastudio 424 preamp, a sound made popular by mk.gee and others throughout the years. Today I'm exploring the Benson Portable Distortion 424 MKII in lieu of any amplifier to see how it sounds straight into my interface. I gotta say, I'm quickly falling in love with the 424 sounds: the subtle compression, warmth and raspy saturation when cranking the TRIM control. Definitely a secret weapon for studio guitarists and a unique alternate texture to mix in.
