Obsidian hunting in Arizona rockhounding country—today we’re doing Flagstaff rockhounding in the San Francisco Volcanic Field to find volcanic glass obsidian, including mahogany obsidian and silver sheen obsidian. This Arizona rockhounding adventure follows an obsidian hunting trail from a popular spot to a quiet Plan B that turns into an unreal obsidian find.
• We start at a well-known area where obsidian collecting can be tough after years of traffic
• Then we push deeper into the pines and scan washes and open ground for that glassy glint
