I fitted the widest rear tyre I could possibly squeeze onto my 80kW Sur-Ron Ultra Bee—but getting it to fit was far from straightforward!
In this video, I reveal my exact front and rear tyre sizes, explain what each number on the tyre means and show you the modifications needed to achieve enough clearance between the tyre, chain and swingarm.
My Ultra Bee is fitted with 17-inch WGT Racing supermoto wheels, but simply buying the widest tyre available doesn’t guarantee it will fit. I’ll explain how I had to dish the rear wheel, install a sprocket spacer and carefully align everything to prevent the chain from rubbing against the tyre.
I’ll also cover the different supermoto tyre options available, explain which make and model I chose and give you my honest review of their road grip, cornering performance and overall appearance.
