Abby Cox | I *finally* got to visit a museum & see an excellent costume exhibition 😭🎉 | Indiana University Vlog @AbbyCox | Uploaded May 2021 | Updated October 2024, 4 days ago.
Oh my gosh, it has been well over a year since I was on a plane and able to travel anywhere, so when I found out that the Sidney & Lois Eskenazi Art Museum at Indiana University was hosting an exhibition on Glenn Close's costume collection, I could not get there fast enough! I love Bloomington, visiting campus (I graduated with a B.A. in 2008), and the IU Art Museum was the first museum I ever "worked" for so this whole trip was nostalgia overload for me.

The "Art of Character" exhibition was lovely, with great care given to the display and accessibility of the costumes. Most pieces could be viewed in the round, which allows is crucial for the visitor experience. They also selected really fantastic pieces from Glenn Closes's 800 piece collection. Dangerous Liaisons, Stepford Wives, 101 Dalmations, 102 Dalmations (holy cow the costumes from this film!!), Sarah, Plain and Tall, Guardians of the Galaxy, and more.

I left the exhibition with a great deal of respect for Glenn Close as an artist, she clearly values and respects clothing, fashion, and costuming as an art form and cherishes these collaborative projects.

It also felt amazing to be *home* in Indiana for the first time in 2 years. I was able to visit friends and family, enjoy the emerging of the brood x 17-year cicadas 🤮, and take my husband on a road trip to see where I am from, and where I grew up. This is just a small glimpse into the trip, but I hope you all enjoy traveling with me! I've never done a travel vlog before...so this was a new and fun filming and editing exercise.
