I had this idea for a birthday reflection about getting older, identity, and finding yourself, but somehow grief found its way into the plot. That's how grief is sometimes. You think it belongs to something that happened years ago, then you blink and it's right back in the room with you.
Sometimes life just doesn't go as planned.
And the deeper realization for me is that I know a lot more about who I was than I do about who I am right now.
