I have been using Blender for five years now, and I have also been using the Rigify add-on for five years.
So during my stream today, I figured out something very important about the Rigify add-on...I've always just used the basic skeleton it starts with as a base for my own rigs. Little did I know it came with a whole lot more than that. LIke a GENERATE button. Life changed.
