I really did NOT want to do this $17,000 tree removal, but I ended up doing it anyway! We’re back in Seattle working with the crew at Seattle Tree Care to tackle a massive, disgusting Lombardy Poplar that was absolutely choked with ivy.

This tree was a total nightmare—brittle wood, 100 feet of "Satan's Salad" (ivy) to climb through, and right in a tight residential neighborhood. I was actually pretty nervous about this one, but getting to see STC's $400,000 grapple truck in action made the "disgusting" work worth it.

In this video, we break down why a single tree costs $17,000 to remove, the technical challenges of climbing in heavy ivy, and why I almost walked away from this job entirely.
