Today, I did an mtb enduro race for the first time... EVER! This enduro race took place at Cwmcarn, Wales as the final round of the 2018 Welsh Gravity Enduro series. The race was amazing good fun and I'm now super stoked to get racing in some more enduro races in 2019!
The format of this enduro, for a start is, actually 'gravity enduro.' This means you're untimed on the pedal up the mountain/hill, timed on the 5 decent stages but you only have 4/5 hours to get to and complete each stage. You were allowed to re-do any stage as many times as you like, to try and better your times but we only did a couple of stages again for fun afterwards. There's massive queues for each stage but once you're near to dropping in, you leave as much of a gap between you and the previous rider before dropping. The actual whole vibe of the gravity enduro event was awesome. Everyone was cool, loads of people to say hi to and it also felt nicely uncompetitive.
