I just sold my Celestron EdgeHD 925. In four days someone picks it up.

Before it goes, I want to tell you exactly why — because if you are
thinking about buying an SCT for deep sky astrophotography, this video
might save you a lot of money and frustration.

Five things nobody warned me about: mirror flop and focus drift, guiding
at 2350mm, plate solving failures with a tiny field of view, mount
demands, and the image quality reality check.

Is the SCT ever the right choice? Yes — and I cover that honestly too.

And what I would buy instead: a decently long APO refractor gets you
the same deep sky results, cheaper and significantly easier. My own
experience with the Askar 103APO and the incoming Askar 131F backs
that conclusion.
