Chef and author Una Leonard joins Irish Cancer Society Night Nurse Anne Freeman-Rahill to share the invaluable support the Night Nursing Service gave her family during her mum Pauline’s final days.
After nine years of caring for her mum through cancer, Una explains how having a Night Nurse at home allowed her and her siblings to step away from their caregiving responsibilities and simply be her children again — spending those precious final hours together in peace.
Anne also explains the care, reassurance and dignity Night Nurses provide to patients and their families at the end of life.
The Boots Night Walk returns on Tuesday, 8 September, with a 3.5km walk in Dublin’s Phoenix Park or the option to take part in your own local community.
Since partnering with the Irish Cancer Society in 2012, Boots colleagues and customers have raised more than €4.5 million, helping to fund approximately 11,400 nights of Night Nursing care.
