Cycling the world - Asia: episode 51
With a smaller temporary rear wheel, no proper rear brake and tyres that are not tubeless, I have an easy choice to make: take the main road to Muscat or continue on the bikepacking route. Of course I choose the hard way. Flooded wadis, washed out tracks, river crossings, brutal climbs and intense heat reduce my progress to centimetres at a time as I drag the loaded bike through the mountains. By the time the wind picks up and sunset approaches, I am completely exhausted, but after one incredible day of riding I finally find a sheltered place to camp.
