Ever since the ending of Amphibia, with the 9 month time skip showing grown up (more older than grown up) Sprig and Polly, and Ivy setting up the new continent Grime found the idea of a spinoff series has been in pretty much all our heads. Even Matt Braly said he'd like to see a spinoff focusing on Polly, so who knows?
That got me thinking a while ago what a theme song for a show like that would sound like. I was planning for a while to take on the challenge of writing a theme song so this was a great opportunity! I wanted it to sound familiar to Amphibia but also new and otherwordly, to drive home the exploration and unknown aspects a spinoff like this would have.
The instruments used in Amphibia by TJ Hill, like the Wartwood instruments (harmonica, banjo etc) really put down the vibe of an American farming place, so I expanded the instrument selection to include oriental sounds to have it be bigger. I also made use of chromatic notes and certain chord progessions for an adventurous feeling.
