A 16-year-old developer made this horror game… and honestly, it’s impressive.
The Stoneville Incident delivers a creepy blend of found footage, psychological horror, VHS aesthetics, and unsettling atmosphere that kept me invested from beginning to end. While it isn’t a groundbreaking experience, it’s a seriously solid indie horror title—especially considering it was created by a solo developer who is only 16 years old.
Unfortunately, we ran into a frustrating game-breaking bug that forced us to replay the game THREE separate times. During one of the biggest jump scares, a police officer was supposed to appear to trigger the next sequence. If he failed to spawn, the game became impossible to progress, leaving us with no choice but to start over.
Despite that setback, I came away genuinely impressed. The atmosphere, presentation, and overall execution show a ton of potential, and I’m excited to see what this developer creates in the future.
If you enjoy indie horror games, psychological horror, found footage, VHS horror, analog horror, and creepy atmospheric experiences, you’re in the right place.
