The HP Compaq computer this was in is from 2011. It has a unreliable (albeit, not the E model "motherboard killer") PSU, the Bestec ATX 250-12Z. My friend has a Compaq with the exact same PSU from 2005. 2005! This PSU was SIX years old at the time the computer shipped! Not to mention it doesn't even have proper connectors for the computer! This PSU was replaced with a Corsair VS400.
