Someone built a fake version of Reedsy to scam authors out of thousands of dollars. So I called them. I'm from the real Reedsy — and they had no idea who they were talking to.
We've been made aware of at least six fake websites impersonating Reedsy, charging authors thousands of dollars for editing and publishing services they'll likely never receive.
In this video, I walk through what these scam sites look like, how they operate, and what happened when I called one of them directly.
If you're an author looking for editing or publishing help, please watch this before handing over any money. The real Reedsy doesn't do direct outreach, we don't offer phone support, and we don't use Gmail addresses. If someone calls or emails you claiming to be Reedsy, they are almost certainly a scammer.
