I decided that my sofa bed in my camper was no longer suitable for full-time vanlife.
So, as you do, I decided go pull a large chunk off my van, fit a larger chunk and build and upstairs bedroom!
This is part 1, it should have only been 2 parts but the fitting took quite a lot of extra work so no will be a 3 parter.

During this crisis we thought our best option since being full-time van dwellers was to just get out of the way of society and bunker down in the wild to let this blow over.

The guys at Haloview were nice enough to send me out a new reversing camera for the van and be part of their affiliate program. The system I fitted was the wireless Haloview 720p MC7108. The original camera system from way back when the van was an ambulance had started to give up and was in need of a replacement, so they came to the rescue right on cue! Just before I set off on a road trip through Scotland, Id bought a set of second hand waffle/recovery boards (as its me and I knew Id be getting stuck)
So I set about mounting them to a side wall of the van.

Now that Id decided to push forward with the trailer project, the first thing I needed was a tow hitch for the van so I could then find a chassis.
Not an easy task on Amber due to her being an Ex-ambulance and the two rear ends of the diff had been lopped off for the tail lift and rear step.
Whilst under here and good access, I also got onto the much needed task of swapping out the diff oil, which wasnt pretty.

This time Im tackling heating in the van.
The log burner was removed to put the new flooring in, and seeing as Id ruined the flew back in Portugal getting up close and personal with a tree, now was the perfect time to replace that and check everything over.
My diesel heater had also stopped working, running roughly for a few minutes at a time before shutting off. So I go inside there as well to see what was going on.
