What if there was a brand new SEGA Mega Drive / Genesis game starring Retro Gamer Boy?
In this video, I reveal a previously unseen game concept created for The Retro Gamer Boy Show that was designed to run on original SEGA Mega Drive and Genesis hardware. Although development only reached the early concept stage before being discontinued, a playable prototype was created to explore the idea and test gameplay mechanics on real hardware.
The game follows Retro Gamer Boy after he is mysteriously sucked into an arcade machine and transported into a world inspired by some of the greatest SEGA classics ever made. Players battle their way through parody-inspired levels paying tribute to legendary titles such as Golden Axe, Shinobi, Streets of Rage, Altered Beast, and even a first-person arcade shooter stage inspired by House of the Dead.
Unfortunately, the prototype cannot be released publicly because it contains temporary placeholder assets sourced from other projects. These assets were only used to accelerate development during the concept phase and were always intended to be replaced with original artwork as development progressed.
