I Built a FIRE HOSE for My Pond… and It’s Awesome  @IndyFarmLife

I turned the 25-plus gallons per minute coming from my solar-powered well pump into a homemade FIRE HOSE for our 1-acre pond—and this thing is way more useful than I expected.

Using a 220-gallon IBC tote as a buffer tank, an inexpensive shallow well jet pump, 1-inch water line and a fire-hose-style nozzle, I built a system that delivers a ridiculous amount of cold well water all the way to the pond dock.

The original goal was simple: rinse sand off our feet, cool down the scorching-hot Trex decking and give the kids another way to play in the water. But this setup can also cool the swimming area, fill water tables, wash off the dock, knock down floating algae and biofilm, and create a surprisingly nice fountain effect.

Under full sun, the solar well pump produces approximately 25 GPM and can actually outpace the jet pump. The buffer tank gives us roughly 20–25 minutes of additional runtime when cloud cover temporarily knocks the solar pump offline.
