In this video, I build a 4004 / 4040 single board computer. The 4004 was the world's first microprocessor, created by Intel back in the 1970s. In this video, I build a computer that uses the 4004 (or 4040) together with the rest of the supporting components (4289, 4265, 4201, 4002-1, etc). I built a small memory mapper to increase ROM space from 4K to 16K. I added some latches and buffers so I can have an RC2014-compatible bus connector. I added a "multimodule" socket that let me plug in one of my speech synthesizers. Finally, I added a front panel with 7-segment displays and a 16-button keypad so I could implement a calculator using the 4004. For more vintage computer projects, see smbaker.com
