I was browsing eBay one night when I found this 1956 HO scale Rivarossi "green puppy" four wheel switcher locomotive. The seller said it was untested and it showed some damage on the cover but I went ahead and purchased it anyway.
After having a look at the engine in detail I took it over to the track for testing where I discovered that the motor was completely seized in place. Disassembling revealed that someone had previously removed the ball bearings which are necessary for the locomotive to run correctly.
Luckily after having already collected some Rivarossi locomotives in the past I happened to have some on hand which I was able to install.
