JUNK HOUSE - EPISODE 1: Bugger, they accepted our offer. After years of dreaming about buying a rundown, cheap, off-grid shack somewhere in the bush, Helen and I finally found a place. It was bad. Really bad. So bad in fact that we decided it was too far gone. But after almost two years of being on the market, it still lingered in my mind as a great opportunity. What scared us was the amount of termite and white ant damage, dampness, rot, and the prospect of having to replace almost everything. That being said, the block was magic, and the house itself was beautifully charming. Helen and I put in an offer. We got it, and so starts a huge experiment with time, money and second hand stuff. This is the full blown renovation of a junk house with the camera rolling.
