In Part 3 of my craft room reset series, I asked ChatGPT to help me declutter… and it got surprisingly personal. 😅
This video became about so much more than organizing. We’re talking unfinished projects, emotional attachment to supplies, “someday” creativity, and realizing that maybe the real problem isn’t storage… maybe it’s simply too much.
If you’ve ever felt overwhelmed by your own creative space, I think you’ll relate. 💕
Here is the prompt I used:
"We’ve already identified that my craft room problem is not really a storage issue. It’s a combination of visual overwhelm, too many unfinished decisions, emotional attachment to supplies, and simply having more than my space can realistically support.
Since the last reset:
the retreat supplies have been moved out of the craft room
categories are starting to emerge
some surfaces are more functional again
but I still feel mentally overwhelmed by the amount of stuff remaining
I’m realizing that decluttering — not adding more furniture — is probably the real solution.
At the same time, I do NOT want a minimalist or sterile craft room. I still want it to feel artistic, cozy, inspiring, and lived in.
Please help me continue this process realistically and gently.
Specifically:
help me identify which items are supporting my creativity and which are draining it
help me recognize duplicates, “fantasy self” supplies, guilt clutter, and emotional clutter
help me decide what deserves valuable visual space in my room
help me create realistic boundaries for how much my space can hold
help me avoid getting emotionally overwhelmed or shutting down during the process
and most importantly, help me continue in small achievable steps instead of trying to fix everything at once
Please explain your reasoning in a compassionate and psychologically aware way that creative people can relate to."
