The United States of America is the greatest country on earth, the land of the free, home of the brave! The only place where you can get a massive discount on a mattress on a random Monday in February.

But if that’s all true, if the United States really is so star-spangled awesome sauce, then why are so many Americans leaving the U.S. for places like where I live in Berlin?

While talking to three American transplants, I found out their reasons for moving to Berlin. And they range from the cost of a burst of appendix to meeting the right woman at a party.
