It isn't every day that I make a film about me going to see a film. But for Nosferatu 2024, I am making an exception. I have been waiting for over a year to see this film.
When I learned that Bill Skarsgård will be transforming into THE Graf Orlock, this film became a must see. Willem Dafoe, no stranger to Nosferatu is sure to add class and depth to this film. Hopefully Lily Rose-Depp has inherited her father's considerable talents. The trailers and teasers have me pumped.
Hopefully, if I like it, at some point it will be possible to do an in depth review and analysis of this film.
Honestly, I've always slightly preferred Nosferatu to Dracula. Who ripped off who? Nosferatu is a vampire film made in Germany by Germans. It is perhaps prejudicial, but I cannot entirely shake the notion that F.W. Murnau and Max Shreck were somehow closer to the heart of the vampire than Bram Stoker was. A strong opinion and I also like Dracula too.
Before it was announced that DUNE was being developed, if you had asked me who could play the Baron Harkonnen, I absolutely would have told you that there is only one man alive today who could do it, and that was and is Stellan Skarsgard. Look what his son Bill did with Stephen King's IT!
I cannot wait to see a Skarsgard bring my favorite vampire lord to life!
