Welcome to "I Am European: Young migrants and people with a migration history share their stories", a 6-part bitesize series about migration, identity, and belonging. This series asks 17 young people in Europe what it's like to be a migrant or how it feels to be perceived as a migrant when you’re actually a local. Migrants and people with migration histories from or living in Germany, Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Estonia and Finland share their highs and lows of life in their (new) homes. These include stories of connecting with locals, facing microagressions and discrimination, how they understand the term “integration” and how it impacts them. The thread that connects all the young people in this series is the desire to belong, a wish to which we can surely all relate.
