Hyrax is a genus of small, thickset herbivorous mammals found in Africa and the Middle East. Despite their rabbit-like appearance, they are more closely related to elephants and manatees due to unique anatomical features, such as tusk-like incisors. Hyraxes are well-adapted to rocky or bushy environments, living in colonies, and are known for their agility in climbing. Their feet have specialized pads that help them grip surfaces. Though small in size, hyraxes play an important role in their ecosystems, particularly as prey for larger animals.
