The fitness industry has been mired in a bunch of bs overcomplication of exercises for many years. And all of that wanking accomplishes a lot of nothing. But those people have the goal of creating 45 minute videos to pump the algorithm, keep you confused, and get views.
I'm here to help.
So I will be putting up a series of exercise technique videos, showing you how I teach the movements for best results. The difference being that what I will tell you
a. works
b. isn't overly complex
c. can usually be explained and/or demonstrated in roughly 3-5 minutes
Because the fact is this: if you can't explain it simply, you don't understand it.
And the rest of the talking heads, NONE of whom used the bs techniques they are showing you to develop their own physiques, don't understand it. And even if they did, their goal isn't to educate to begin with.
I understand it. And if you watch this videos you'll be amazed at how much more effective your training becomes using small basic techniques. Ones I can teach and they can NOT.
Let me note, these videos all have as their goal optimizing HYPERTROPHY training. Not performance, not strength, HYPERTROPHY. So spare me questions or comments (which I won't read) about "Does this apply to powerlifting?" or whatever.
HYPERTROPHY.

Finishing up back (lats/midback) training, I want to look at the pullover, an exercise that works the lats in isolated extension.
As always I'll briefly look at what the movement is doing, along with a tiny bit of history, before looking at machine pullover technique.
Since many gyms don't have a pullover machine, I'll also show cable pullover technique.
I'll make a brief comment about the DB pullover (tldr it sucks) and then outline a back training program that I guarantee you will give you more back gains than any of the other nonsense you could watch about the topic. You don't need to worry about lower, middle or upper lats or teres or rhomboids minor.
YOU NEED A BIGGER BACK.
And all of the one arm full stretch partial lengthened crap won't get it done.
So go use the cues I've given you, clean up your damn technique so you're actually using your back. Do proper back training for 3-6 months without changing anything except going heavier in good form. See what happens.
Then come back and tell me those three words I love to hear "Lyle is right"
