This hybrid first winter male Common Goldeneye x Hooded Merganser is wintering in Toronto with Greater and Lesser Scaups and Common Goldeneyes. The ducks are feeding on mollusks, probably invasive zebra mussels. When the hybrid duck came back to the surface after successful dives with a bill full of mollusks, some Greater Scaup tried to take its food away every time.
