Saturday, May 24th was International Drone Day. For this weekend’s challenge we take a dive into drones - not the flying kinds, but musical drones, sustained notes or sounds. The challenge is to make a jam with some droning elements. You can go full experimental and make a minimalist jam with just drones. Or you can take a melodic approach and think of melodies contrasting movement and static elements (maybe research pedal points in music theory?). Or you could look at folk music for inspiration: bagpipes are a good example of a melodic instrument with drones.

Drone day is an international celebration with people making drones all over the world. HWJ is not affiliated with other orgnizers, but feel free to join in on the fun with the larger drone community.
