Word of Advice TV | HVAC Thermostat Blinking Cool On But A/C Not Working @WordofAdviceTV | Uploaded 2 years ago | Updated 1 hour ago
Is you house HVAC thermostat blinking "cool on" or "heat on" and does not turn on the furnace or air conditioner? This is most often caused because power was interrupted/cycled even if the interruption was for a very brief moment. Some thermostats like the Honeywell brand have a delay timer which is used to prevent the heating and cooling equipment from coming on too quickly (known as short cycling). Short cycling an air conditioner can damage the compressor which is why some thermostats have a compressor protection feature built in that prevents the compressor in the HVAC unit from coming on immediately after power is reset. The delay is usually 5 minutes long and once the "cool on" or snowflake stop blinking and turn solid, the unit should come back on.
