Although the wave action was not as intense as further south in St. Joseph (due to the longer fetch), the winds were every bit as vicious. The most fascinating thing is to watch the gulls ride the updraft just before the pier, barely flapping a wing. After seeing this MANY times I realized why: they are looking for dazed fish, or fish thrown up onto the pier.
